I entered MA in Communications Studies this year. Leeds university has very detailed accommodation guide but that would be great to hear somebody who already live/lived there.

Here is a list of types of PG student accommodation:

Leodis Residences, Montague Burton, Sentinel Towers, Smaller Residences, St Mark's Residences, Grayson Heights

In accommodation form I picked Leodis as most preferred then Montague Burton and then Sentinel Towers. How are these residences? That would be great to know your thoughts!

I'm an exchange student due to start in January at Leeds... I'll be staying in uni accomodation - so far picked Clarence Dock but haven't had my choice confirmed yet - and I heard it's pretty far from uni. I've also seen posts about how you shouldn't walk alone in the streets.

I'm wondering... I'm from Montreal, so I tend to assume it's okay to walk home by yourself at 1 A.M. and not be afraid at all (I'm a 5'2" girl). I have the feeling it won't be okay in Leeds, so I'm aware of that, but I was wondering if this applies only at night? At what time do you say it's too late/not recommended to walk around by yourself?

Just to warn everyone else, LEEDS IS NOT AS SAFE AS WE THINK

Last week a friend at around 8 PM was hit on the face and threatened to be stabbed if he didn't give out his wallet by a group of teenagers. This happened on brudenell road.

Yesterday, a female friend was followed on her way towards Headingley, when she realised she was being followed she started running and calling her brother in a moment of panic, the boys ran after her and stopped her. they had a knife pointed at her. they took her pursue and asked her to go away. this happened near Woodhouse Lane.

PLEASE BECAREFUL AROUND LEEDS and HIDE YOUR GOODS!

ERRANDER – formerly known as P>S>P, tech metal attack, on IATDE records
LUCIEN (Sweden) – punk cock rock n roll from Sweden ala Hellacopters/Gluecifer
HUMANFLY – a yorkshire thunderstorm of riffs. mega.
THE MERCURY LEAGUE – faster than a crackhead on giro day - hc punk from Sunderland. Witness the fitness.
THE DAUNTLESS ELITE – melodic sing along punk rock, in that No Idea vein, but without sounding like every band on No Idea which, let’s face it, a lot of bands do.
DEATH HAND APPROACHING – instrumental metal, sound like The Fucking Champs apparently. But I saw TFC’s last year, and I wasn’t impressed, but I did have a good pool session while they played.
JUPITER LANDER – spazzy emo. Anyone seen crying will be ejected from the venue and beaten down on the fire escape. Ex We Are Corpses/Yossarian is Drowning/4 Planes in 4 Days/Broken Access
UNICORN LOVE – have pulled out..because one of them has to go to Church. Seriously. It’s for a wedding like.
xOLIVERREEDx – drunken grind (the best sort)
IT’S BROKEN – kid dynamite six toes from Ponte
KAYAKO SAEKI – like early Therapy? ? 2nd gig

The running order will fluctuate wildly. Much like John Travolta’s acting career. Broken Arrow though, wicked film. So get there at the start.

Does anyone know of a cheap hostel in Leeds? The only one I can find online is the Euro Hostel which is supposedly closed this summer, but Leeds is so big it seems like there must be others.

Hi,

I'm a student from Canada possibly going on exchange to Leeds this September. I was wondering if any of you can help with some information about a few residences? North Hill Court, James Baillie Park and Lupton in particular.

How are the residences? I heard how North Hill was supposedly being refurbished? How does it look now?

Also, how is the sense of community at those residences?

If anyone lived who lived there in prior years could leave some input or tips, that'll be great!
